Mayo Clinic is partnering with Microsoft to test their new generative AI service, Microsoft 365 Copilot. Mayo Clinic and Microsoft will be among the first health systems to deploy this Copilot. The new generative AI service combines large language models with organisational data to increase productivity in the healthcare industry. Mayo Clinic's objective is to automate tasks and deliver more targeted patient care through the integration of AI-powered technology.

Microsoft 365 Copilot has the potential to revolutionise work in almost every industry, allowing people to concentrate on their most crucial tasks and drive their organisations forward.

Mayo Clinic will be among the first to participate in the Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Programme, whereby hundreds of their clinical staff, doctors and healthcare workers are offered the chance to test the AI technology. Working with Copilot tools enables staff experience across apps including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. The artificial intelligence technology, which combines large language models with Microsoft 365 apps – calendars, emails, chats, documents and more, is aimed to boost productivity.

Cris Ross, chief information officer at Mayo Clinic, said, “Privacy, ethics and safety are at the forefront of Mayo Clinic’s work with generative AI and large language models”.

Leveraging AI-powered technology will enable Mayo Clinic to offer its teams new timesaving tools and bolster Mayo Clinic's capacity to spearhead healthcare transformation, with a continued emphasis on delivering the highest quality care to the patients.
