Carestream Team GB has struck Gold and been awarded preferred bidder status for the supply of PACS to the Cheshire and Merseyside NHS Consortium.

As existing contracts for PACS and RIS systems, delivered through the NPfIT Programme expired, Informatics Merseyside facilitated a consortium of eleven independent NHS Trusts to work together to source the provision of replacement PACS systems. Members of the Consortium, who operate fifteen sites across the Cheshire and Merseyside area, are using the opportunity to deliver improvements in patient care through more integrated data sharing and workflows. Hospitals within the Consortium perform a total of 1.35 million radiology examinations each year.

Subject to successful conclusion of contracts, there will be eleven individual PACS agreements with each of the participating Trusts for five year Managed Service Contracts with the option to extend for another five years. Installation will commence in early 2013.

Commenting on the award of preferred bidder status, Managing Director of Carestream UK, Charlie McCaffrey, said: “We have a great reputation for service in the North West of England and this is our chance to extend the high quality support that our customers expect to this PACS implementation.”
