The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is pleased to welcome Kambiz Nael, MD, to the Neuroradiology division as Professor In Residence.

 

Dr. Nael has a notable career spanning over two decades in neuroradiology, particularly in cerebrovascular diseases and stroke care. "In addition to his clinical expertise in cerebrovascular diseases and stroke care, Dr. Nael has a distinguished record of teaching, multidisciplinary research, and clinical care in previous faculty roles at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine, University of Arizona Medical Center, and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City," said department chair Christopher Hess, MD, PhD.

 

Dr. Nael's prior leadership roles, including directorships of Neuroradiology MRI and Stroke Imaging, have propelled innovation in patient care. His research focuses on quantitative neuroimaging, aiming to enhance diagnostic precision in cerebrovascular diseases and stroke.

 

His work has earned international acclaim, with accolades such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers – Bioengineering Division Competition award and the National Science Foundation (NSF) visualization challenge. As an educator, Dr. Nael's impact extends to mentoring medical students, post-docs, and junior faculty, and his contributions to multidisciplinary conferences and online education lectures.
