Position Summary

Responsible for performing multiple duties that require experience in the assembly, transport, disinfection, calibration and troubleshooting of respiratory related equipment. The Respiratory Student Extern works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist. The extern is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in the various work areas and assisting Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks as directed. Reports to the Respiratory Care Director/Respiratory Care Supervisor.

Education

Minimum

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program

Preferred

  • 2nd year Respiratory Therapy student graduating within 90 days of hire. Previous healthcare experience

Experience

  • Previous experience with assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment

Other Qualifications

  • Must have current American Heart Association, BLS, ACLS & PALS Certifications.
  • Recommend membership to the Florida Society of Respiratory Care and American Association for Respiratory Care
