Role Summary

 

The Corporate Affairs Manager will join the corporate affairs team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, agile and impactful organisation and part of a team that devises leading public affairs, communications and media relations strategies and initiatives. The team in Ireland are part of the Global Corporate Affairs Organisation and part of the Western Europe Cluster.

 

Working within the corporate affairs team, the role will support corporate affairs objectives to promote an environment that will enable the growth and vitality of Pfizer’s business.

 

The right candidate will have at least five years’ experience working in policy, public affairs, advocacy or communications in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Public Affairs and Policy Director and working closely with the Communications Senior Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to gain experience working in a multinational environment and across issues at the top of the political, patient and news agenda.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Works closely with colleagues from commercial business (Oncology, Rare Disease and Inflammation and Immunology, Hospital and Internal Medicine and COVID-19 Franchise); Pfizer Global Supply and Pfizer Global Business Solutions to identify and execute corporate affairs opportunities
  • Monitors and reports internally on external environment including policy/statistics related to multinationals, health, pharmaceuticals as published by government departments/ Oireachtas debates/stakeholder organisations /patient advocacy organisations; media and others
  • Ensures Country Leadership, Corporate Affairs Leadership as well as other Regional and Global colleagues have timely awareness of external developments
  • Proposes and implements innovative Public Affairs & Policy strategic approaches to support Pfizer’s strategic business goals
  • Drafts leader talking points, presentations, position papers to support external activity
  • Manages public affairs, media and social media activity to support campaigns (e.g. recruitment, stroke awareness)
  • Manages Pfizer inclusion in trade group sponsored supplements and reports, drafting content for approval by senior leaders
  • Identifies and manages positive science PR opportunities / sponsorships
  • Manages internal financial and compliance approval processes to support corporate affairs activities and initiatives
  • Maintains strict compliance with all applicable policies and laws, especially those related to interactions with government officials, healthcare professionals and those related to pharmaceutical marketing

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

This position requires the integration of government relations, public affairs, policy and communications expertise to develop effective strategies that support Pfizer’s business priorities. The ideal candidate will possess experience in several of these areas.

 

  • Minimum five years experience working in a public affairs & communications agency; in advocacy for a patient/medical organisation; in the political system as parliamentary assistant or research/policy assistant or in corporate affairs in a multinational organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective public affairs and communications solutions that deliver results
  • Knowledge of Irish healthcare and pharmaceutical environment an advantage but not mandatory
  • Evidence of existing working relationships with elected officials / their staff; civil service, patient organisations, medical organisations, media, other stakeholders
  • Understanding of working of government, political, parliamentary system
  • Knowledgeable in use of digital and social media to support public affairs and communications strategies
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills and ability to persuasively engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, solution oriented individual
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a regulated working environment
  • Relevant degree level education
