The number of obese people in the world has doubled in the past three decades.

The obesity epidemic has long since spread to countries with moderate to low economic performance. Stopping this development is one of the goals of the 12th International Congress on Obesity (ICO). From 17th to 20th March 2014, nutritionists and scientists will convene in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The congress is the perfect forum for experts from around the world to share their know-how and devise practical solutions.

seca gmbh & co. kg, Hamburg/Germany, the world leader in medical measuring and weighing, is well acquainted with the obesity problem. At the congress the company will present the medical Body Composition Analyzer seca mBCA, an important tool in obesity management. The innovative diagnostic device makes possible a medically precise assessment of a patient's general health and nutritional condition. In the treatment of obesity the seca mBCA helps the doctor to monitor the patient's progress.  In longitudinal studies the device reliably shows the effects of changes in nutrition on body composition and distinguishes fat reduction from simple loss of water weight.

All congress attendees will have the chance to have their body composition measured by the seca mBCA. While at the seca stand, visitors can learn more about current research in bioelectrical impedance analysis.

The ICO 2014 is organised by the International Association for the Study of Obesity (IASO) and the Malaysian Association for the Study of Obesity (MASO).

More information about the congress is available on the official website
