The Centro Diagnostico Italiano in Milan, Italy, has launched its first app, giving access to the over 600,000 patients who frequent its 21 centres annually to view their test results on their Android tablet, smartphone, iPad or iPhone.

Offering patients the possibility to arrange their own results in a computerised health record, the app is also equipped with a satellite navigator that can guide the user to the nearest CDI centre via the mapping feature.

Among the innovative and numerous app features is the home page’s simple report viewer, accessible via its icon. By saving report documents, patients can create a ‘virtual library’ in their own personal computerised health records page and assess the clinical significance and values of their results via the CDI’s online ‘Laboratory Book’.

Additionally, the app provides detailed information on required preparations for blood tests and related exams.

Confidentiality is provided through the app’s security screen, where users must enter a username and password previously provided by the Centro Diagnostico Italiano.

The introduction of this app has been widely welcomed by the centre’s patients.
