Advantech, a leading provider of medical computing systems and services, has announced the launch of an innovative smart battery kit that combines an iPS power system, remote management capabilities, and smart kit accessories into an intelligent power management console. This kit enables hospital IT departments to simultaneously monitor the battery/power status of various mobile devices around the hospital, such as mobile nursing stations and vital sign monitoring carts.

Medical-Grade Battery System Ensures Reliable Power Supply

Advantech’s iPS power system uses LiFeP04 battery technology and is equipped with a fanless cooling mechanism to prevent water and dust penetration. The system is also UL60601-1 and EN60601-1 certified to ensure reliable and safe operation in critical environments, such as operating rooms and intensive care units, where contagion control is a strategic priority. For more information about the iPS power system, please visit the Advantech iPS product page.

AMiS_Link Software Solution Enables Remote Battery Management

AMiS_Link is an intelligent power management console developed by Advantech for conducting remote battery management tasks, such as configuring the battery temperature, charge/discharge voltage and cycle times, current and accumulated discharge times, as well as a low battery alarm.

CH Wang, an Advantech Medical Computing Division product manager responsible for the smart battery kit, stated “Typically, when client computers are turned off, IT staff cannot check the battery status… and we’ve found that caregivers often turn off devices between tasks. Therefore, we designed this smart battery kit to enable hospital IT staff to remotely monitor and manage mobile device power systems even when the device is switched off.”

Advantech’s Smart Kit Allows Smarter Remote Battery Management

With the inclusion of innovative smart kit functions, the iPS power system can be monitored remotely even when client computers are switched off. Thus, IT staff no longer need to disturb users by asking them to switch on mobile client devices to conduct manual power status checks, thereby greatly increasing operational efficiency. The smart kit also includes an IoT gateway for linking the back-end server with mobile client devices via Wi-Fi. Furthermore, because additional software or firmware is not required, deployment is rapid and straightforward to conduct.

For users, such as nurses and doctors, Advantech’s smart battery kit ensures constant connectivity for instant communication. For healthcare facilities, the smart battery kit reduces the IT human resources required because IT staff can easily monitor and manage the power systems of multiple mobile devices remotely.
