Job - Lead MRI Radiographer

Location - The Wilmslow Hospital,52-54 Alderley Road, SK9 1NY

Contract Type - Permanent, 37.5 hours a week

Salary - Competitive (dependent on skills & experience).

 

Job Description

As a Superintendent Radiographer you will be responsible for providing first point of clinical leadership in MRI, operating in accordance with the Wilmslow HCA guidelines and company policies to deliver a service that is aligned to contractual and governance requirements. 


In addition to your supervisory duties, you will work clinically as a Radiographer and complete MRI procedures, coaching other members of staff where necessary. You will also maintain and continually develop an efficient imaging service, optimising patient care and support the Imaging Department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Radiographers undertaking modality specific imaging procedures

  • Undertake MRI scans in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols (MHRA Guidance 2007, IR(ME)R 2000, Code of Clinical Practice)

  • Conduct competency assessments at regular intervals, ensuring any development needs are identified and followed up

  • Be actively involved in the recruitment, appointment and induction of new clinical staff

  • Arrange rotas for clinical staff where required

  • Ensure good communication is maintained with the team to deliver a smooth-running service

  • Deal with day to day staff queries, liaising with appropriate support functions where required to resolve the queries within a reasonable timeframe

  • Take ownership of governance activities i.e. audits, personal development, and team meetings with the support of your colleagues

  • Undertake all examinations efficiently and to a high standard ensuring safety of patients at all times

  • Assist in development and promotion of the Diagnostic Imaging service

  • Assist with the booking of some appointments and work closely with the Radiologists


Skills & Experience

  • DCR(R) or BSc in Radiography

  • HCPC Registered

  • Extensive experience in MRI

  • Cardiac MRI experience is desirable

  • Experience with 3T scanning
