The Polish government has announced that 120 000 units of Johnson&Johnson vaccine arrived in Poland on Wednesday. Despite reports of rare blood clotting in some recipients, the vaccine will be used.

The European Medicines Agency approved the vaccine for use in the European Union last month. However, the Health Minister Adam Niedzielski confirmed that the Polish government is following the EMA recommendations and would want to use it for inoculations.

In a bid to stem the high numbers of daily cases and Covid-19 related deaths, Poland is trying to speed up its vaccination programme. Currently 75% of hospital beds are taken. Currently, 38 million people in Poland have received almost 8 million doses of the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.
