ICCA Stroke is an interdisciplinary and interactive course focused on carotid stenting and acute stroke interventions. Leading experts in the field will guide you through patient selection, interventional imaging, accessing the carotids and intracranial vessels, embolic protection, device options, post-procedural care as well as avoiding and managing complications. You will have the opportunity to learn how to build an interventional stroke center and start your own carotid stenting program.

ACUTE STROKE INTERVENTIONS

There is level 1A evidence for thrombectomy in acute stroke with a number needed to treat (NNT) of only 2, acute stroke interventions are extremely efficient. Up to 20% of acute strokes can and should be treated with catheter techniques, but there are not enough interventionists capable of performing these procedures outside of large stroke centers. We want to change this by educating interventionists from different specialties about catheter-based stroke interventions. See how to remove clots from the brain and make a real difference in the life of your patients. We believe there is no other catheter intervention you can perform with such a huge impact!

CAROTID STENTING

Recent developments of mesh-covered carotid stents, integrated embolic protection and/or filtration and direct carotid access with high-flow proximal protection have reduced risk of stroke during and after the procedure to much lower levels than historically seen. Stay up to date with the latest developments in the comeback of carotid stenting!

HANDS-ON TRAINING

The program will include simulator demonstrations by our experienced faculty and a limited number of one-on-one training sessions will be available for registered attendees. Practice your skills in acute stroke interventions and carotid stenting procedures on cutting edge medical simulators in a safe training environment.
